Quirky Gifts from Montreal.

It all started with a sign. A street sign, that is, on the outskirts of Old Montreal, located on a commercial street that envelopes the quaint artisan neighborhoods and neogothic cathedral.

The store behind the sign was a carbon copy of the miscellaneous section at any Urban Outfitters, in other words, magical.
This is so much more than an ice tray. It's a titanic & iceberg ice tray! How convenient to capture 1912 from your chilled glass.
I have read a collection of memoirs about the Cultural Revolution. So I knew the next item was an absolute necessity.
It's a Dumpling Dynasty Chinese Writing Kit, satirical commentary included. I would imagine my mother had this same style of pencil case...animated characters, pets, splashes of red, etc, probably used to praise Mao Zedong  and to objectify revolutionary teachings...
My favorite: the emblem!

The stencil is a definite bonus.
